Annual General Meeting set for May 21

The Stanley Bridge Memorial Society Inc.’s annual general meeting will be held Wednesday, May 21 at 7 pm at the Stanley Bridge Centre (former Stanley Bridge United Church). Learn more about the exciting things that are happening within Stanley Bridge, including a new farmer’s market slated to open at the Stanley Bridge Centre in July. Bring a friend or several friends. All are welcome.

Moving Pews

Wednesday, May 14, was clear-out day at the former Stanley Bridge United Church, where valuable items, including several pews, were moved by volunteers from the building onto flatbed trucks. The trucks moved the items to another location where they were placed in a large shipping container for temporary storage. The building is being renovated for a wide range of future uses, including hosting a Farmer’s Market in July.

Welcome Sign

Not exactly a very “welcoming” sign for visitors driving to Stanley Bridge from Cavendish. One of the casualties of an unusually harsh winter or perhaps a plow’s blade.

Taking a Break

Stanley Bridge Memorial Society volunteers took a break from their work on May 2. They were preparing for the May 3 pancake breakfast fundraiser at the Stanley Bridge WI. The lavish meal also included sausages, homemade baked beans, cheese, fruit, jam, cinnamon rolls, juice, tea and coffee.
