The Donation Letter background information:
The Stanley Bridge Centre has been a central point for many community families for more than a century. Now an area group is planning to restore it to its original beauty.
The building was de-commissioned in 2008, is now under the protection of the Stanley Bridge Memorial Society Incorporated. They have established a new name for the building, namely, The Stanley Bridge Centre, with plans to preserve, protect and celebrate its past history and have it become a meaningful gathering place for residents and visitors alike. Plans include the addition of a new basement, kitchen area, washrooms, restoration and replacement of windows, new roofing, insulating the structure and ensuring accessibility for all.
Once restoration is completed, the main function will be as an Ecumenical Chapel. This will be a venue for weddings, baptisms, anniversaries, etc. There are also plans for a History Centre, genealogy area, community artifacts, a Computer/Internet station as well as a general meeting and performance place.
The organizing Committee has a capital budget to $400,000.00, and is asking for your monetary support of its efforts. Please make your cheque payable to The Stanley Bridge Memorial Society Inc. and mail it to Box 32011, Kensington, PE, C0B 1M0.
