The “Men in Motion” Masonic Choir and the “Just for Fun” Community Choir gave a rousing performance in front of an appreciative audience at the New London Community Complex on Sunday, Nov 17.
At the evening’s end choir members were treated to a wide variety of delicious finger foods and deserts, prepared by Stanley Bridge Memorial Society members. Proceeds from the successful event will go to the Stanley Bridge Memorial Building Fund, which will be used to renovate the former Stanley Bridge United Church (de-commissioned in 2008). When completed the extensive renovations will transform the enduring landmark into a thriving cultural and events centre.
At 7 pm, Sunday, Nov 17, the Island Masonic Choir, Men in Motion, and the Milton Anglican Church Community Choir, Just For Fun, will present an evening of music in the New London Community Complex. Tickets, at $10 each, can be purchased from Joan Harding, at 954-0077, Eliza MacEwen, at 886-2592 and Rowan Caseley, at 836-5445. Proceeds will support the Stanley Bridge Cultural Events Centre Building Fund.
The Centennial Quilt, named in honour of the province’s 150th anniversary in 2014, is valued at more than $1,200. The quilt was spread out across pews at the former Stanley Bridge United Church recently. Tickets will be sold over the coming months and money from the sale will support needed renovations at the former church. Tickets will be available, at five dollars apiece, on November 3 at the New London Community Complex’s Christmas craft sale, 10 am to 2 pm.
